GUWAHATI: A shocking revelation has emerged in the Guwahati stabbing case, where investigations have revealed accused Bhupen Das’ history of deception and manipulation.
According to police sources, Bhupen Das had a pattern of forming relationships with multiple women, deceiving them by presenting himself as unmarried.
In the case of the victim, Mousumi Gogoi, Bhupen had also spun a web of false love, trapping her in a relationship under the pretence of being unmarried, police sources said. Mousumi, who had moved to Guwahati after her husband’s death, was unaware of Bhupen’s marital status and children. For two years, she maintained a relationship with him, only to discover the truth recently.
The turning point came when Mousumi received a call from Bhupen’s wife, revealing his true marital status. Upon learning the truth, Mousumi ended the relationship, but Bhupen refused to accept it. He began mentally threatening her, and on December 8, Mousumi filed a complaint against Bhupen at the All Women Police Station Panbazaar. However, the complaint was not registered, and Bhupen continued to threaten Mousumi. Ultimately, he brutally murdered her with a sharp weapon, police sources said.
The Hatigaon police are currently investigating the case, and the revelations have raised questions about the police’s handling of Mousumi’s complaint and the circumstances leading to her tragic death.
