Guwahati: Temple theft case resolved in 9 hours, several thieves arrested in city

GUWAHATI: Guwahati police arrested several thieves and burglars from different areas in Guwahati in connection with diverse crimes.

Chandmari police arrested Pabin Das (24) of Bhaskarnagar after he was caught red-handed with six stolen teak logs (7 ft

each). The logs were reported stolen from a warehouse near Gandhibasti.

Azara Police solved a Durga Mandir theft case within nine hours of the incident taking place. An investigation into the theft case led to the recovery of two brass bells, utensils, and copper wire from a scrap yard in Gorchuk. The police also recovered five more brass bells and utensils from another scrap yard in the Amingaon area. The police arrested five in that connection. The five are Sudhir Chandra Yadav (20), Bikash Yadav (20), Raju Sheikh (50), Mirijan (45), and Sakil Ahmed (35).

In its investigation into a burglary case, Basistha police arrested Mofidul Ali (20), hailing from Krishnai, while attempting another burglary at Boragaon.

Bhangagarh police raided a scrap yard at ASEB Road and arrested scrap dealer Momir Ali (46) of Hajo. The raid led to the recovery of several items, including two AC motors, five kg of AC copper pipes, angle wrenches, an iron culvert, two batteries, an AC cover, an electric meter box, electrical wires, and aluminium bars.
