Guwahati: Thieves Arrested, Recovered Stolen Items in City

GUWAHATI: A team from Basistha Police Station cracked a theft case, arresting two individuals involved in stealing two tile-cutting machines and other valuables from Pankaj Nagar Bylane-1, Barsajai. The thieving duo Jakir Hussain (25) and Ajmal Hoque (44)  hail from Mukalmua and Boko, respectively.

The recovered items include six water taps and 6.400 kg of copper wires. The thieves were tracked and apprehended within 24 hours from the Mazar area in Hatigaon. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, revealing that the stolen items were sold at a scrap yard near Assam Kata, Khanapara. A search at the scrap yard led to the recovery of the stolen items, along with additional stolen materials.

In another incident, a team from Noonmati Police Station apprehended three thieves involved in a theft case at a garage near Maa Manasha Motors in Guwahati. The accused, identified as Karan Basumatary from Boro Chawk, Kushal Patowary from Nizarapar, and one other individual from CCL, were arrested in connection with the theft.

The police recovered a significant amount of stolen items, including five car batteries, three bottles of vehicle engine oil, eight coolant containers, a Teflon machine, a grinder machine, a putty machine, and other articles.
