Guwahati: Thieves arrested, stolen items recovered in city

GUWAHATI: Assam Police, Meghalaya Police, and a team from Basistha PS arrested Sunil Kumar Jha from Beharbari. The accused had stolen Rs 4 lakh from Umling Petrol Pump, Nongpoh. The accused has been handed over to Khanapara PS of Meghalaya Police for further legal action. During a probe into a theft case, a team from Dispur PS arrested Nirmal Nath (41) of Sribhumi, a seasoned offender. Police seized an Alto car, two laptop bags, and burglary tools. In a separate incident, a team from Basistha PS arrested veteran burglar Chandan Hasda, aka Kosu (21), of Bongaon from Lalmati. The investigation led to a raid at a scrapyard in 8th Mile, Khanapara (Meghalaya), where stolen items were recovered. The receiver, Saidur Rahman (25) of Boko, was also arrested. Police recovered two Exide batteries, two Karahis, and a cover.
