GUWAHATI: The highly anticipated All India Inter Zonal Cricket Tournament 2024–25 will be held in Guwahati, Assam, hosted by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) RSCB-NER. 16 matches will be played over five days, from January 6 to January 10, 2025, under the management of the AAI Sports Control Board, CHQ New Delhi.
The tournament, featuring six AAI regional teams, aims to foster camaraderie and promote a vibrant sports culture among its officials. The competition will be inaugurated at Judges Field on 6 January at 7:30 am, with teams arriving in Guwahati on 5 January.
M Raja Kishore, Regional Executive Director of Airports Authority of India's North Eastern Region, will preside over the inaugural event alongside dignitaries Gyan Batra, Vice President, RSCB-NER, and Pabitra Das, Regional Secretary of the Airport Authority Employees Union, NER.
Two locations—Judges Field and the Railway Stadium in Maligaon—will host the matches. Although the majority of the matches will be played during the day, Judges Field will host a few high-stakes matches under floodlights to give the sport an exciting new dimension.
On January 10, Judges Field will host the grand final match in the morning, while Hotel Kiranshree Grand will host a formal closing ceremony in the evening.
Beyond cricket, this AAI project aims to foster mental health, physical fitness, and a sense of camaraderie among staff members.
The tournament is expected to become a significant event in AAI's sports calendar, featuring competitive matches and an exciting combination of teams.
