GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Jal Board (GJB) has announced a temporary disruption in water supply across several localities in the city due to urgent repair work on feeder pipelines. The interruption, which began earlier on Thursday, is part of an ongoing effort to rectify a leakage in the main pipeline system.
According to the official notice, water supply will remain affected in key areas including Ramsahill, Hirimbapur, Navagraha, Chitrachal, Housing, Nizarapar, Silpukhuri, Uzanbazar, Barwari, Panbazar, and Fancy Bazar. The GJB stated that the repair work is expected to be completed by the second half of the day, following which water supply will gradually be restored.
In a separate update, the GJB also informed residents of Amiya Nagar, Chandmari, Rajgarh, Gandhi Basti, Ashram Road, Rehabari, Lachit Nagar, Bora Service, and Rupnagar that water supply in these areas is likely to resume from around 1 PM today. This follows maintenance work near Rajgarh Bihutoli which is currently underway.
The GJB has urged residents to bear with the inconvenience and assured them that teams are working on a war footing to restore services as soon as possible. Consumers are advised to store adequate water and check for further updates from the official GJB communication channels.
