Jalukbari residents concerned over rising road accidents

GUWAHATI: Residents of Jalukbari are concerned with the rising number of accident cases under Jalukbari Police Station areas.

They have highlighted the need of speed breakers in specific blank stretches between structures and dividers in the area. Most of the accidents are registered from these areas - Khanamukh, Lankeshwar, Assam Forest School, Satmile, and Bidyanagar.

In this regard, the JalukbariKendriaNagarikSamiti has submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner to take cognizance of the matter. The Samiti demanded the district administration to install speed breakers deploy traffic police personnel permanently in the accident prone areas.

They also met executive engineer of PWD National Highway division and urged them to construct rumble strips in the areas. The engineers assured that the strips will be installed.
