GUWAHATI: The Education Department of the Government of Assam has mentioned that in the case of candidates who have appeared for betterment in the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examination, the increased marks will be considered only if the subjects remain same as the previous examination. This notification will come to effect for the recruitment of the 9258 vacancies of Post Graduate & Graduate Teachers of Secondary schools of the state.

The department mentioned that a large number of candidates had submitted mark sheets with Betterment/ Improvement from the Assam State Open School (SOS) while applying for the posts. In the earlier processes, the best of the five subjects were considered from both the original HSSLC mark sheet and the Betterment/Improvement mark sheet with only English one MIL (such as English & Assamese or English & Bengali etc.) were compulsorily kept as the core subjects. The Council also mentioned “Students applying for admission under Improvement Scheme may take admission only in the subjects they have appeared earlier in the qualifying examination” and that “For applying under ‘Improvement Scheme’, candidates may re-appear in the same subject only and one chance will be given to regular learner”.

In the physical document verification for the best of the subjects from both the mark sheets (Original HSSLC and that of the Betterment/Improvement under SOS) will be considered but only if the subjects are the same as those of the original HSSLC Mark sheet of the candidate. Subjects that are not in the earlier ‘qualifying’ examination/original HSSLC will not be considered for the same.
