Northeast Frontier Railway adds Vistadome coaches

GUWAHATI: The Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway has decided to attach one additional Vistadome coach each in train No 15888/15887 (Guwahati-Badarpur- Guwahati) Vistadome Tourist Express and 12088/12087 (Guwahati-Naharlagun-Guwahati) Vistadome Shatabdi Express for a period of one month.

According to a press release, train No 15888/15887 has been attached with a Vistadome coach from October 1 to November 2 next. Similarly, train No 12088 has been attached with a Vistadome coach from October 2 to October 31, and train No 12087 from October 3 to November 1.The trains will now run with a revised composition of seven Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches having modern passenger amenities.

The details of stoppages and timings of these tourist express trains are available at IRCTC website and through NTES. Passengers have been requested to verify the details before undertaking their journey.

SWACHHATA PAKHWADA: Meanwhile, in accordance with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's clarion call of 'Swachh Bharat Mission', Swachhata Pakhwada was observed over Indian Railways from September 16 last.

In continuation to this nationwide drive, Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway launched various cleanliness activities to promote awareness about cleanliness in its premises. The fortnight-long campaign was inaugurated by administering the 'Swachhata Shapath' pledge on September 16 and it culminated on Sunday, stated another press release.

The campaign was launched to sensitize people about observing proper hygiene, encourage desisting from open defecation and keeping the stations and railway tracks clean. From the first day, various activities were organized at railway colonies, work places and station premises to spread awareness amongst railway employees, their families and passengers. During the fortnight-long campaign, emphasis was laid on Swachch Awareness, Swachch Samwad, Swachch Stations, Swachch Railgaadi, Swachch Parisar, Swachch Ahar, Swachch Neer & Swachch Prasadhan. Swachhata Seminars and awareness camps were held at all the five divisions under NF Railway. Nukkad Nataks were also organized at various locations to spread awareness of Swachhata and message of Swachhata Abhijan being played at various stations for awareness of passengers. Regular updates of all the activities and innovative practices on Swachhata have been widely published on official social media platforms of NF Railway.

On Sunday, on the occasion of the 153rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a major Swachhata Abhiyan was undertaken near Guwahati Railway Station led by the General Manager of NF Railway, Anshul Gupta, along with senior officials and staffs followed by a tree plantation drive involving the local children. Nukkad Natak, floral tribute to Gandhiji's portrait and bhajan programmes were also held at the premises of Guwahati Railway Station. To mark the occasion, similar programmes were also organized at platforms, station premises, circulating area of various railway stations, hospital premises etc., across five divisions of NF Railway.

Swachhata Pakhwada is an opportunity for Railways to showcase their efforts in trying to maintain cleanliness of the highest order in trains, stations, surrounding areas, railway colony, schools and railway hospitals.
