Pratibandhi Suraksha Sangstha, Assam seeks release of funds for Divyangjans

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: The Pratibandhi Suraksha Sangstha, Assam (PSSA), on Tuesday, appealed to the Assam Government to release the last six months’ funds under the Deendayal Divyangjan Asoni (DDA).

Under the scheme, the Divyangjans receive Rs. 1,000 per month from the Assam Government.

However, in a release, PSSA secretary Nripen Malakar stated that in the last six months no amount has been released under DDA to aid the specially-abled people.

“The PSSA had staged a protest in this regard on March 6 following which the government assured us that the funds will be released within the month,” Malakar added.

Further, the PSSA welcomed the government’s recent announcement of providing four months’ pension in advance to senior citizens and differently-abled people.

The poor and economically backward people will be given Rs. 1,000.
