Pratibandhi Suraksha Sangstha hit the streets to protest against Citizenship Amendment Act

GUWAHATI: The Pratibandhi Suraksha Sangstha, an organization of physically challenged persons on Saturday took out a procession in the city to registrar its strong protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).

The procession was taken out from the front of Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX) Bhawan at Ambari on Saturday and walked through the historic Dighalipukhuri.

Secretary of Pratibandhi Suraksha Sangstha Nripen Malakar said even though they are physically challenged, they are mentally capable to vehemently oppose the contentious CAA. He, however, regretted that those elected by the people to rule the State have now become mentally challenged and thus not protesting against the CAA. “Way back in October 9, 2018 the State Government had promised to give jobs to 863 physically challenged persons. The promise is yet to be fulfilled. Now rattled by the anti-CAA protests the government has promised to give jobs to 55,000 youths in the next six months. Is not it ridiculous and insult to the people of Assam,” Malakar said.

Demanding immediate release those arrested for participating in the anti-CAA protests, Malakar said the Pratibandhi Suraksha Sangstha will continue its protests till the CAA is scrapped.
