Pratima Roy: In Memoriam

 A pall of gloom descended on the friends and family members of Pratima Roy following her death on September 25, 2023, at her residence in Rehabari, Guwahati. Daughter of Dr. Sharada Charan Roy and Sachibala Roy of Cinnamara Tea Estate, she was born on December 31, 1939, and did her schooling at Jorhat Government Girls' School and graduation from Debi Charan Baruah Girls' College, Jorhat. A gentle and pious lady, her compassionate nature was loved by all. Though originally a resident of Jorhat, she shifted to Guwahati a few years ago. She was an active member of the Senior Citizens Forum of Jorhat while residing there.

Wife of late Dr. AK Roy, former Director of Research, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, she is survived by her only daughter Anindita, son-in-law Pradip Datta, and grandson Nirnoy, besides a host of relatives and well-wishers. On the day of her Adya Sradhha, I pray for her moksha. Om Shanti!
