PWD Junior engineer arrested on graft charge

GUWAHATI: Sleuths of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption caught red handed a junior engineer of PWD (Building) while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from an individual in the city on Friday.
The junior engineer identified as Bijoy Das of Rangia PWD (Building) Subdivision, had demanded bribe of Rs20000from a person for issuing NOC (no objection certificate) to him for setting up a petrol pump in Kamrup district.
"On the basis of a complaint alleging demand of bribe, a trap was laid by a team of Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption in Dispur area of Guwahati. At around 5 pm, one Bijoy Das, junior engineer, PWD (Buildings) of Rangia Subdivision was caught red handed in front of PWD (Building) office at Ganesh Mandir by the team while he was accepting bribe of Rs10000from the complainant," an official statement of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption said here.
