
GUWAHATI: Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Guwahati organized Farmers' Awareness Programme on Agrometeorological Services for the farmers in Barapara, Boko on January 22. On this occasion, local farmers were invited to interact with the meteorologist.
Doli Haloi, Meteorologist, in her introductory speech, welcomed all the farmers. She informed that the India Meteorological Department has completed 150 years of its foundation and provides various types of weather services including Agro Advisory Services. Dr. Gayatry Kalita, Scientist-D briefed about the awareness programme.
K N Mohan, Scientist-G and Head, Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati explained the importance of agrometeorology for the farmers. Dr. Sanjay O'Neill Shaw, Scientist-F expressed his gratitude to the local community for their active participation in the awareness programme. He urged farmers to utilize agromet advisories to increase crop production. Sunit Das, Scientist-F explained about AAS bulletins, and mobile apps like Meghdoot. Damini etc.
Sayani Hossain, Meteorologist and Dr. Sudip Kumar Kundu, Research Associate imparted hands-on training to the farmers. A vote of thanks was given by Reeta Brahma Gayary, Meteorologist, a press release said.
