GUWAHATI: The Bhumi Adhikar Sangram Samittiee, Assam (BASSA) has staged road protest and meeting at Dakshin Madhabdev Nagar under Ward No. 6 in Guwahati raising the demand for land pattas to people who have residing for years on hills in Guwahati. In a statement issued to the media on Sunday, BASSA president Prabinjyoti Kalita said, "We oppose the decision taken by the State Cabinet not to issue land pattas to people residing in hills in Guwahati. We demand the Cabinet to withdraw the decision, and issue land pattas to people living on hills for years. If this demand is not met, the 85,000 pattaless families residing in Guwahati will take their own decisions in the forthcoming Assembly election in the State."
