Sahityarathi Laxminath Bezbaruah recalled on his 83rd death anniversary

GUWAHATI: Sahityarathi Laxminath Bezbaruah was remembered on his 83rd death anniversary in Assam and elsewhere in the country on Friday.

In Guwahati, the Sahityarathi Laxminath Bezbaruah Smritiraksha Samity observed the day at Laxminath Bezbaruah Chowk at Ambari by lighting 83 flames on Friday. The National Song of Assam written by Laxminath Bezbaruah was sung on the occasion.

The Samity said that the day was also observed at Sambalpur in Odhisa. Floral tributes were paid in the morning at Bezbaruah's house there. Samity's convener Deepak Panda presided over the meeting held in the evening in memory of Bezbaruah. The contributions of Bezbaruah were discussed at the meeting. The day was also observed at the Assam House in Kolkata.
