SPREE 2025 launched to boost employer and employee registration

Guwahati: The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Regional Office, Guwahati, organized a press conference on Saturday to announce the launch of the Scheme for Promotion of Registration of Employers and Employees (SPREE) 2025.

Addressing the media, Robert L Guite, Regional Director, ESIC, North East Region, said that the scheme was rolled out during the 196th Corporation Meeting held in Shimla under the chairmanship of Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports. SPREE 2025, which will remain in force from July 1 to December 31, 2025, is a one-time special initiative aimed at providing unregistered employers and employees, including contractual and temporary workers, an opportunity to enroll in the ESI Scheme without the risk of inspections or demands for past dues.

Employers who register under SPREE 2025 will be deemed covered from the date of registration or the date they declare, while employees will enjoy coverage from the date of their registration. Notably, the scheme ensures that no retrospective inspections or recovery of dues will be conducted for any period prior to July 1, 2025.

Highlighting the ESI Scheme’s outreach, Guite shared that it currently covers 4.3 lakh insured persons and extends benefits to approximately 16.6 lakh individuals, including family members, across 63 districts in the North East Region, facilitated through 34,000 registered employers.

Ahtesham, Deputy Director, ESIC, NE Regional Office, Guwahati, further emphasized that SPREE 2025 will be implemented across the entire region through the Guwahati Regional Office and six Camp Offices located in Agartala, Aizawl, Shillong, Dimapur, Imphal, and Itanagar.
