Guwahati: The people of Assam and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh, have extended their heartfelt greetings and congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for presenting a strong and forward-looking roadmap for the nation’s future. State BJP in a statement expressed appreciation for the Prime Minister’s clear and focused address, reaffirming the ideology of “Nation First, Development First” that continues to guide his leadership.

The Prime Minister’s recent speech, delivered in the presence of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders, laid out a comprehensive vision document centered on inclusive development and welfare. Of particular significance was the historic move to recognize the Lower Middle Income (LMI) group as a distinct category in India’s developmental policy. This is the first time such a group has been officially acknowledged, ensuring targeted welfare measures beyond the existing categories of poor and middle class.

State BJP welcomed this announcement, emphasizing that the inclusion of LMI families in policy planning reflects the government’s inclusive thinking and deep commitment to addressing the needs of every segment of society. The party stated that the Prime Minister has made it clear that various development schemes and welfare initiatives will now be tailored to uplift this newly recognized group.

According to official government data given, India’s per capita income has witnessed significant growth—from Rs 91,121 in the financial year 2011-12 to Rs 1,72,913 in 2022-23. Additionally, the country’s multi-dimensional poverty rate has declined sharply from 29.17% in 2013-14 to 11.28% in 2022-23, indicating the positive impact of sustained welfare and development policies over the past decade.
