GUWAHATI: Ride-hailing platform Rapido recently suspended a few of their Captains (drivers) in Guwahati for not following Rapido's mandatory operational regulations. Since then, the suspended Captains have been creating constant hindrances to Rapido's bike taxi operations in the city, stated the company in a release.

"Few suspended Captains accompanied by unknown elements entered Rapido Bike's Guwahati office and engaged in acts of violence with the staff present, as well as damaged company property. There are also constant reports from Captains on-ground, that they are being stopped by these suspended Captains while at work and are being harassed and abused, both verbally and physically," the release stated.

"We strongly condemn this aggressive and violent conduct of the suspended Captains and their malicious intent to harm the reputation of the company and other Captains. We have requested the authorities to take strict action against them to help us preserve a safe environment, which we have conscientiously created, over the last 5 years for our Captains and as well as our customers in Guwahati," the release added,

Rapido alleged that certain unsubstantiated charges have been levelled against the company by certain bike taxi unions after being instigated by the suspended Captains, claiming that the company indulged in unethical practices through its customer-to-customer delivery service.

"We categorically deny such allegations and state that these are baseless and are not backed by any evidence whatsoever. We will extend our full cooperation to the local authorities for carrying out a formal investigation into these allegations. Additionally, we will be conducting a thorough internal investigation in this regard," the release added.
