Three Gaon Panchayat secretaries suspended with immediate effect

GUWAHATI: Three Gaon Panchayat (GP) secretaries were suspended on Monday by Commissioner of Panchayat and Rural Development Hemen Das with immediate effect due to irregularities and misuse of fund in implementation of rural development schemes under 14th Finance Commission and MGNREGA.

They suspended GP secretaries are - Mozamil Hoque, secretary of Mandia Gaon Panchayat under Mandia Development Block, Barpeta; Sofiur Rahman, secretary of Jania Gaon Panchayat under Mandia Development Block, Barpeta, and Ajoy Kr. Das, secretary of Haripur Gaon Panchayat under Chenga Development Block, Barpeta.

A team of Panchayat and Rural Development officials visited Barpeta district in the last week to review the progress of implementation of various rural development schemes and during their field visit, the irregularities of the said GaonPanchayats came to light. On the basis of the report submitted by the officials, the Commissioner has taken the measure, stated a release.
