Welder injured after contact with high voltage wire in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A welding worker sustained serious injuries after reportedly coming into contact with a high voltage electric wire while measuring a house railing at Bhagadattapur in Guwahati. The injured has been identified as Nekibur Ali.  The incident occurred while the worker was carrying out railing measurement work at the residence of Achyut Chandra Barman. He reportedly came into contact with the high-voltage cable, following which a loud sound was heard. Local residents rushed to the spot and found the worker with serious injuries to his head and other parts of his body. He was subsequently taken to a private hospital for treatment.  Meanwhile, local residents alleged that the house construction had violated safety norms and was being carried out despite the presence of the nearby high-voltage cable.
