Imphal: One person has been apprehended by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) from Imphal Airport when he was traveling with Gold paste weighing over 900 grams and valued at approximately Rs 42 lakh.

The CISF officials said that four packets of yellow metal paste weighing about 909.68 grams were recovered inside the rectal cavity of a passenger.

The passenger, identified as Mohammed Shereef, is a resident of Kozhikode in Kerala and was scheduled to fly from Imphal to Delhi on an Air India flight at 2:40 pm. He was taken from the Security Hold Area for questioning but could not reply satisfactorily.

After a preliminary investigation, the CISF officials took him to a medical examination for an X-Ray of his lower body and which showed concealed metallic items inside his body cavity.

However, the person has confessed.

Senior officers of the CISF and Customs were informed and the passenger was handed over to them for further action.

Earlier, the Balaji Police launched an operation and arrested 3 frauds who were accused of multiple crimes including theft. The incident took place at Pathsala in the district of Balaji in Assam. Several ATM cards, cash, gold jewellery were recovered from the trio by the Balaji police. A stolen four-wheeler car bearing Registration No. AS01-ET-4033 was also recovered by the police from the possession of the frauds near the HDFC and AXIS banks at Pathsala.

The names of the three frauds are Sirajul Haque, Rafikul Islam and Ramesh Ali. The Superintendent of Balaji Police, Dharmendra Kumar Das said, "The police after receiving information and complaints from the victims became alert and were able to arrest the three culprits involved in such anti-social activities." According to the police, the frauds had replaced the ATM card of an old man and later withdrew an amount of Rs. 1 lakh from his bank account. The old man later filed a complaint at the police station.
