Shillong: Several locations in Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills district have been tagged as micro-containment zones on Wednesday, September 23, after the detection of COVID-19 positive cases within the premises.

The areas that have been sealed in the micro-containment zones after the detection of COVID positive cases are as follows:

The house of Arun Kariwala, Flat W-303, Ferndale Apartments, in 'Karmakar Eternity' House No-32, Ward No 24, Ripple side toward Last Stop, Laban, in K.B.H. Cottage at Mawkhar, in the houses of Armada Laloo, Ibanylla Wanniang, Eminiancy Lyngdoh, Riopar Khongain, Evalynda Diengdoh, Ravi Kumar Chachan, Dr.R.E.Donn, Shanborlang Kharnarbi (second floor) and Emosila Sohtun Compound at Lower Mawprem and in the house of Kongka War at Lama Villa.

As per the order that was passed yesterday, these areas require "contact tracing, testing, and isolation to be effected in the interest of the health of the general public to prevent against any possible spread of COVID-19."

The DC, War Nongbri, in her order wrote that no persons shall be allowed to move into these containment areas and inhabitants within these areas shall not move out; besides. all inhabitants within the containment areas shall strictly remain inside their homes.

Any violation of these orders shall entail prosecution under the penal provision of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, and the I.P.C, Nongbri's order further stated.

In a related development, Nongbri has retained only the house of Pranotosh Roy, a tenant, in the compound of H. Diengdoh, Nandi Ram Lane, Madan Laban as a micro-containment area.

At the same time, containment orders have been lifted from house no. 203/3, Pine Walk near Lady Keane College and the entire Block –IV of Qualapatty, with effect from 23rd September 2020.
