Meghalaya: NEIGRIHMS director calls recently circulated pictures as old

Shillong: The director of NEIGRIHMS, Dr P Bhattacharya has clarified that the picture that was circulated in social media by the Tripura royal scion, Pradyot Manikya Deb Barman was an old one. According to Dr P Bhattacharya, someone must have shared his old picture to the media houses.

He said that nobody stays in that room since it is under repair. "The Tripura royal scion was kept in the COVID-19 isolation area. The picture which was circulated to the media is an old picture which we had taken to inform the engineer that the room has to be prepared," he added.

The director said that he was not informed that Pradyot Manikya Deb Barman was shifted to Bethany Hospital. The people who are in Hotel Monsoon and Hotel Majestic are also kept in the isolation area.

Dr Bhattacharya further said that they will find out who had leaked the old photographs on social media and destroying the image of the premier medical institute of the Northeast.

On the other hand, Pradyot Manikya Deb Barman has reacted to the comments made by the director. He shared a few more photos on his official Facebook profile and wrote that these pictures were clicked by him a week ago.

He wrote on Facebook, "NEIGRIHMS director, Dr P Bhattacharya is either being misled or in denial. I Can show him the deluxe room I was taken to. Either he cannot defend his inefficiency or will try to hide this matter under the carpet. For the record, these pictures are not old but taken by me personally earlier this week from MY PHONE. This is the REAL condition of the premier most medical institution in Northeast – Shame."

Pradyot Manikya Deb Barman was admitted to Bethany Hospital in Shillong after he tested positive for COVID-19. He said, "I have got COVID pneumonia, and it has spread to my lungs." He will go back to Bethany or outside if his condition does not improve.
