Assam: 12 Couples To Get Married At Mass Wedding Ceremony In Silchar

The organizers will offer gifts, ration for one month and necessary merchandise to the couples on this auspicious occasion.

Silchar : A mass wedding ceremony will be held in Silchar in Southern Assam where twelve couples hailing from different communities from Barak Valley will tie the knot and this event has been organized by Lions Club.

This will be the 18th edition of Gana Bibaha 2022 and the event will be conducted at the Normal School premises in Silchar on 20 February.

Pradip Ghosh, the president of Lions Club Silchar, has informed that as many as 12 couples will get married amidst blessings, cheer and jubilation.

He said that the organizers will offer gifts, ration for one month and necessary merchandise to the couples on this auspicious occasion.

Samik Sen, secretary of the club along with SS Endow, Rupnayan Das, RN Dutta Banik, Jashabanta Das and others have informed that the couples mostly happen to be daily wage earners hailing from tea garden areas.

The members of the Lions Club have assured that this mass ceremony will strictly abide by the existing Covid-19 guidelines and will ensure that the safety protocols are not violated.

Das said that they have strived to extend co-operation to the people who mostly hail from the remote tea garden areas including Chandigarh Tea garden, Kashipur Tea Estate, Nagar TE etc, through this project over the years.

He thanked the authorities of Normal School in Silchar for granting them the premises for the annual ceremony and also thanked other associations for extending their support in the objective.

Potterheads Dinesh SP and Janganandhini Ramaswamy hosted their Hogwarts-themed Metaverse wedding reception on February 6 and managed to have the bride's late father bless them as well.

After their traditional humble wedding in Tamil Nadu's Sivalingapuram, they were joined by about 6,000 people from around the world for their virtual reception ceremony. It has been dubbed as the first Metaverse wedding reception in Asia.
