The birth of Assamese film dated back to 1935 when Assam's Cultural Icon and Filmmaker released his first-ever film in this state 'Joymoti'. The Assamese Film industry is also known by the name of 'Jollywood'. This industry has entertained the people and gained much popularity for several years. Devoleena Bhattacharjee was born in upper Assam and won the hearts of many people and has humongous fans since she played the role of 'Bani' in her debut TV serial 'Sawaare Sabke Sapne Preeto'. With her innocent look and the character played in 'Sath Nibhana Sathiya' as the famous 'Gopi Bahu', she was loved by a huge number of audience. She also made her glorious appearance in an Indian Television reality show 'Big Boss' season 13 and season 14. 

Rimpi Das:

Rimpi Das was born in Tinsukia, Assam and she made her debut in an Assamese movie 'Monot Birinar Jui'. Later she stepped into the Indian Entertainment industry and was a part of TV serials like Mahakali – Anth hi Aarambh hai' and 'Siya Ke Ram' as well as 'Akbar Birbal'. 

Plabita Borthakur:

Plabita Borthakur was born in Duliajan, Assam and she gained much popularity after her appearance in the Bollywood Blockbuster movie, 'PK' as the role of Anushka Sharma's sister. She has also seen in the Bollywood movie 'Lipstick Under My Burkha' where she got the role of a young girl who belongs to a conservative family.
