Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan bought a swanky property in Mumbai. The duplex apartment, which is worth Rs 31 crore, is being constructed under a project named 'Atlantis' by a Tier-2 builder Crystal Group.

According to the sources, the 78-year-old actor bought the apartment in December last year but registered the property with the Department of Registration and Stamps in April this year, paying a stamp duty of Rs 62 lakh.

It is to be mentioned that the duplex is on 27th and 28th floor of the building. The total area of the apartment is 529.94 square metres or 5,704.227 square feet. The actor is getting the flat at Rs 54,345 per square foot rate. It has also six car-parking slots.

Big B already owns four bungalows in Mumbai - Pratiksha, Janak, Vatsa, and Jalsa. Currently, he lives with his family, including wife Jaya Bachchan, son Abhishek, daughter-in-law Aishwarya and granddaughter Aaradhya in Jalsa.

In one of his previous Instagram posts, Big B shared that he bought Jalsa from producer NC Sippy, then sold it, bought it back again, and rebuilt it.

Last year, the Maharashtra government had announced a discount of three per cent on stamp duty for those who have paid the duty before December 31, 2020 and two per cent discount for those who paid stamp duty till March 2021. A time frame of four months was also given by the government to register the sale agreement from the date of paying the stamp duty.

A real estate expert said, "Usually the stamp duty is five per cent of the total amount of the flat and those who bought the flat before December 31, 2020 saved three per cent stamp duty, while those who paid stamp duty before March 31 this year saved two per cent of duty."
