'Finally A Film Where We Don’t Die In The End’: Ranveer Singh And Deepika Padukone On Why They Are Doing 83

Once again in Kabir Khan's '83, Bollywood actors Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone will be seen together for the fifth time in a film; the couple has prior done Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat, and Homi Adajania's Finding Fanny. Nonetheless, Ranveer is charmed that at last they are completing a film together in which they "don't die in the end".

Deepika will play Ranveer's onscreen spouse, Romi Dev, in the film where he is playing the role of incredible cricketer Kapil Dev. '83 depends on India's first win at the cricket World Cup in 1983.

Deepika reported the start of her shoot plan for the film with, “& on to the next...Thank You @kabirkhankk for this incredible honour...! #RomiDev #Day1 @83thefilm @ranveersingh”. Ranveer had a wonderful response: “and this time we don’t die in the end! Yay!” he wrote on her post.

Ranveer Singh and spouse Deepika have previously featured in three Sanjay Leela Bhansali films that is Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat. All the three pictures had a grievous ending with the lead couple or one of them dying in the climax. In their first film together, of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela Goliyon Ki Rasleela which is a version of desi Romeo and Juliet, Ranveer and Deepika shoot each other at last while they die separately in the meantime in Bajirao Mastani. Padmaavat, as well, had Deepika ending it all in the fire. Ranveer appeared in a cameo in Finding Fanny as Deepika’s dead husband.

The film is based on India’s cricket World Cup win in England in 1983. Ranveer Singh who will play the role of Kapil Dev, Hardy Sandhu (Madan Lal) and Saqib Saleem (Mohinder Amarnath) among others. The film conjointly stars Tahir Raj Bhasin (Sunil Gavaskar), Ammy Virk (Balwinder Sandhu), Tamil actor Jiiva (Krishnamachari Srikkanth) and Sahil Khattar (Syed Kirmani).
