The 64th Annual GRAMMY Award Show 2022 that was scheduled to be held on 31st January 2022 has been postponed by the Recording Academy and CBS in view of the third covid wave and rise of new variant Omicron in the United States of America.

The postponement news has been confirmed by the organizers on Wednesday 5 January. It was earlier decided that the award show will be hosted at the arena in downtown Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on the CBS network.

The organizers scrapped the January date of the award show after missive discussions and analysis with health and safety experts, higher officials of state and city. It has also made the major decision after careful consideration with various partners and artist community who agreed to keep in mind the risk associated with the spread of Omicron.

In the joint statement by Recording Academy and CBS, it was stated that new dates will be announced soon for the Biggest Night of Music. Earlier in the month of November 2021, the nominations for the Grammy awards were announced.

The Grammy Awards honours the top performances and greatest achievements in the world of music which is presented by the United States Recording Academy. It is a grand music award show of the Big Three networks held annually and regarded as the 4 major annual American entertainment awards along with Tony Awards, Emmy Awards and Academy Awards.

The trophy design of Grammy is made with the structure of a glided gramophone worth 1,260 US dollars. In the award function of Grammy well-known artists performed every year and awards were presented to singers and musicians who made records.

The first-ever Grammy Award show was held in the year 1959 in two places of California and New York where a total of 28 Grammys were awarded. The second award ceremony was held in the same year which was later broadcast on television.

The Award show mainly consists of 4 categories that include Best New Artist, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Record of the Year. The eligibility to bag a Grammy award, an album should have more than 50% playing time of newly recorded which means within 5 years of release.

American popular singer and Songwriter Taylor Swift became the first and only woman solo artist to win the Grammy Award in the category of 'Album of the Year' three times because of her solo recordings. She won the award in the recent year 2020 for her song Folklore and earlier in 2009 and 2015 for Fearless and 1989 respectively.
