KGF Chapter 2: Release Date of the Blockbuster Sequel Announced Today

MUMBAI: The much-awaited sequel to Kannada blockbuster KGF Chapter 1, KGF Chapter 2's release date was announced today at 6:32 in the evening. The film will be released on July 16th, 2021.

The film's director, Prashanth Neel took to Twitter to announce the release date of the film.

Earlier this month, director Prashanth Neel had also shared the teaser of the sequel, which quickly went viral, with more than 100 million views on YouTube.

The makers have also shared a few peeks into the film, showcasing the first look at the actors Yash, Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon's characters.

The much-awaited sequel will star Kannada superstar Yash, who will be reprising his role from the prequel, KGF Chapter 1. The film will also star Bollywood stalwarts Sanjay Dutta and Raveena Tandon, Prakash Raj and newcomer Srinidhi Shetty.

Sanjay Dutt will be portraying the antagonist in the first ever Kannada film of his stellar career. His look from the film has a very Viking-esque vibe to it.

KGF Chapter 1 told the story of larger-than life gangster, Raja Krishnappa Bairya, also known as Rocky, who builds an empire for himself through the big bad world of crime. In KGF Chapter 2 we will see Rocky pitted against bigger and more dangerous challenges.

KGF Chapter 1, the first film in the franchise KGF, became the first-ever Kannada film to cross the monumental 100-crore mark at the box office. It became the second film in South India to do so, after the blockbuster Baahubali franchise. Globally it crossed the 200-crore mark, beating Anand L Rai's Zero starring Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif at the box-office.

Earlier today, the film's director, Prashanth Neel took to Twitter to confirm the announcement of the release date.

Sanjay Dutt too took to Twitter to announce the news of the release date.

KGF Chapter 2 is produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner Hombale Films. The upcoming movie will be released in Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu and Tamil.
