Lata Mangeshkar Still in ICU, But Show Signs of Improvement

Mumbai: Lata Mangeshkar, who was hospitalized at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital, is showing signs of improvement; however, the legendary singer is still in ICU and receiving treatment in Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital.

Last week, Lata Mangeshkar's spokesperson, Anusha Srinivasan Iyer, stated that the singer's health is in good shape and asked that rumours about her health not be circulated. "Lata Mangeshkar has started receiving solid meals from the previous few days and is showing improvement, She is more responsive and improving. She isn't on a ventilator Anusha added.

"Lata Didi remains in the ICU under the monitoring and treatment of Dr Pratit Samdani and his team of outstanding doctors, the 92-year-old singer is improving. Her condition is improving and she is being closely followed in the ICU; they are hoping for a quick recovery "she added.

Mangeshkar is one of India's best singers, having received numerous honours including the Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian honour, in 2001, the Padma Bhushan, the Padma Vibhushan, and the Dada Saheb Phalke Award, as well as numerous National Film Awards.

Mangeshkar was named the most recorded performer in the Guinness Book of Records in 1974, having sung more than 30,000 songs in 20 Indian languages between 1948 and 1974. 'Aye Mere Vatan Ke Logon,' 'Aayegaa Aanewala,' and 'Babul Pyare' are some of Lata Mangeshkar's most famous songs.
