The team of Ranveer Singh starrer ’83 has formally begun their shooting schedule. The team members, who had been training for their respective roles in the film, left for the first shooting schedule reportedly in London.
Sharing a picture of the ‘men in blue’, the official Twitter handle of ’83 wrote: “It’s game time. #83SquadOnTheMove The journey begins.” Within the image, we can see Ranveer Singh who will play the role of Kapil Dev, Hardy Sandhu (Madan Lal) and Saqib Saleem (Mohinder Amarnath) among others. The film conjointly stars Tahir Raj Bhasin (Sunil Gavaskar), Ammy Virk (Balwinder Sandhu), Tamil actor Jiiva (Krishnamachari Srikkanth) and Sahil Khattar (Syed Kirmani).
Kabir Khan, the director of the film, had earlier mentioned that first shooting schedule of the film would begin in Glasgow, Scotland. The film relies on the Indian cricket team’s unexpected victory at the 1983 World Cup, displeasing the favourites, West Indies, within the Cricket World Cup. Ranveer, who will play Kapil Dev, had been training for the role itself, at the film’s camp in Dharamshala and previously in Mumbai with the rest of the team members. Later, he spent time with Kapil at his home to catch the nuances of his personality.
Earlier this month, Ranveer shared pictures with the ace cricketer where the two can be seen exchanging beaming smiles. Ranveer Singh holds a pen and a notebook, which is somehow indicating that he is making notes. In another frame, the two are seen discussing something in depth.
Madhu Mantena, Vishu Induri, Kabir Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala are producing the film. Releasing next year, the film will hit the big screens on Apr 10.
Ranveer has already signed his next film, which is able to be with Yash Raj Films dubbed Jayeshbhai Jordaar, the film is an entertainer, set in Gujarat. The film has been written by debutant Divyang Thakkar and will be directed by him as well. The film will be produced by Maneesh Sharma and is predicted to go on floors this October.
Speaking regarding it, Ranveer Singh said that he had been immensely fortunate to have collaborated with some of the finest film-makers of our country. It’s humiliating and gratifying that they believed in his craft and chose him to lead their cinematic vision. All that he actually had achieved as an actor today is because of these titanic cinematic forces having put their faith in him. He is glad that today he found himself in a position where he can recognize exceptional talent and wholeheartedly back the vision of a brilliant new writer-director like Divyang. Jayeshbhai Jordaar will be his next release after 83.”
