Marriage of Nusrat Jahan and Nikhil Jain Declared 'Not Legally Genuine', Rules Kolkata Court

NEW DELHI: A Kolkata court has pronounced Nikhil Jain and Nusrat Jahan's contested marriage null and void. The court determined that the wedding of the estranged couple was invalid.

The wedding of Nusrat Jahan and Nikhil Jain was declared null and void by a Kolkata court on Wednesday. "It is claimed that the plaintiff and defendant's alleged marriage, which took place on June 19, 2019, in Bodrum, Turkey, is not legally valid. As a consequence of the admission, the lawsuit is dropped."

In June 2021 this year, actress and politician Nusrat Jahan made a surprising announcement, claiming that her marriage to Nikhil Jain took place under Turkish law and hence isn't recognised in India. Nikhil had also allegedly 'illegally stashed away' her family's jewellery and other assets, she said. She claimed that her "funds were mishandled" from numerous accounts without her permission.

On the other hand, Nikhil Jain has already filed for an annulment. Nikhil said that once Nusrat Jahan proclaimed their relationship illegal in India, he kept asking her to legalise it, but she refused.

They haven't seen one other since November of last year, according to Nikhil. Nusrat Jahan married Nikhil Jain on June 19, 2019, after dating for a time. They married in a small ceremony in Turkey and then celebrated with a wedding supper in Kolkata.

Nusrat is now dating actor Yash Dasgupta. In August, Nusrat gave birth to a baby boy called Yishaan. On the other side, Nikhil claims that the child is not his. Much has been said since Nusrat Jahan announced her pregnancy and began her parenting adventure. There are also rumours that she has already secretly married Yash. The couple hasn't made their relationship public yet, but the photographs they publish on their Instagram account suggest otherwise.
