2 arrested by CMSVC over land allotment scam in South Salmara

GUWAHATI: The Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Cell (CMSVC) on Saturday arrested two persons, identified Abdul Akher Amin (53) of Phuler Char in South Salmara and Abdul Hamid Parmanik (49) of Bhimpara in South Salmara, for fraudulently obtaining Government land allotment.

According to sources, the duo was arrested in a case (No. 07/2021) registered in connection of illegal allotment of Government land in lieu of money between 2018 and 2020.

The sources said that Amin is a teacher at the Islampur ME Madrassa in Hatsingimari. He obtained allotment of Government land in the name of his minor daughter, three nephews and two sisters-in-law.

On the other hand, Parmanik obtained land allotment in his own name, three brothers and one sister-in-law.

Both have been remanded to judicial custody after being produced in the CJM's court.
