30,000 Phensydyl bottles seized by Guwahati Police

GUWAHATI: In a major seizure of cough syrup bottles by Guwahati Police, an inter-state network of drug trafficking was busted and 30,000 bottles of Phensydyl cough syrup were seized by Guwahati Police on Thursday.

The operation was led by Partha Sarathi Mahanta, Joint Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, at Nizarapar, Pacchim Boragaon under Gorchuk PS. Police arrested three accused, namely Mridul Malakar (40) of Pachim Boragaon under Garchuk Police Station; Majibur Rahman of 2 no. Larkuchi village under Mukalmua PS in Nalbari district; and Hafijur Rahman (38) of 1 no. Larkuchi village under Mukalmua PS in Nalbari district, in this connection.

The consignment was coming from West Bengal to Bangladesh through Assam and Meghalaya. The market value of the consignment is around Rs 9 crore-Rs 11 crore.
