Garchuk police seized Phensedyl worth Rs 15 lakh, one arrested in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The Garchuk police on Tuesday night seized a truck which was carrying 6,900 bottles of contraband Phensedyl cough syrup, valued at around Rs 15 lakh. According to police sources, the bottles were kept inside in 69 biscuit cartons kept inside plastic sacks.

The driver of the truck (AS01NC 1845), one Sahadul Islam of Goalpara, has been arrested in this connection. Islam claimed that the cargo was loaded on his truck from another vehicle at Boragaon here. However, the police are skeptical about this claim.
