3,204 Legacy Data Illegally Used: Sachetan Nagarik Mancha, Axom

GUWAHATI: The Sachetan Nagarik Mancha, Axom (SNMA) has claimed to have information of 3,204 legacy data, which proves around 69000 doubtful people’s registration into the NRC, have been illegally used.

Chandan Bhattacharya, president, Sachetan Nagarik Mancha, Axom claimed, “We’ve verified it that 1,977 legacy data have been used by tenants. Some people’s legacies are used as legal guardian. Moreover, people coming from Burma and marrying Assamese girl are also using the legacy of their fathers-in-law.1227 legacies have been used by Bangladeshis, who have already got their registration in NRC and their names are still there in the voter list of Bangladesh”.

The Nagarik Mancha also appealed to State NRC Coordinator Pratik Hajela to conduct a verification procedure for those working in WIPRO. The Mancha said, “We’ve lots of doubt on the NRC procedure conducted by the Wipro Company. Since it is a private organization probably there’s no police verification of its workers. Most importantly we appeal to verify the call records as well as other details of Saimul Karim, Zonal Manager, Assam Sector”.

As said by the ident, Chandan Bhattacharya, they applied for sample re-verification and the Supreme Court asked Pratik Hajela if it were possible to conduct the same. Hajela, in his answer, claimed to verify 27% names. Bhattacharya said, “It’s really appreciable if 27% verification names have been completed, but so far we know about the procedure, there must be witnesses. So we just want to know how he verified those 80 lakh people and who those witnesses were”. He added that they have details of people using legacy data violating the law. “We can’t disclose their details now. We’ll wait till the final list and if we find the names of those 69,000 people in that final list then we’ll approach the law,” said Bhattacharya.
