Late Arshad Hussain was born in a respectable family of Jorhat on 5th January, 1950. He received his school and college education in St. Edmunds at Shillong. He obtained his post-graduation degree in Agriculture from Assam Agricultural University in 1980 and joined service in the Department of Agriculture under the Government of Assam. I came into contact with him for the first time in 2009 when he had come to our place accompanied by his wife to offer a proposal for matrimonial alliance for their only son.. Later, we accorded our acceptance to their proposal and with the grace and will of the Almighty, the wedding of their son with our daughter took place on 10-10-2010. Since then a cordial relation developed between the two families.
In this brief write up, I am highlighting some aspects of his dynamic personality and some of the good qualities of his head and heart.
In fact, Hussain Saheb was a respectable gentleman and a man of few words with a soft and pleasant voice. His personality was dynamic and multi-faceted, his behaviour and conduct were dignified, polite and jovial. He maintained a very cordial relation with everyone. He used to read thoroughly two English dailies every day, watched regularly some selected TV news channels and occasionally watched some informative TV channels. Whenever he talked to us, he always talked about the national and international issues of diverse nature and he could beautifully offer a convincing analysis of those issues with his simple explanations and comments.
In his leisure time, he used to browse the internet to gather information of his own interest. At times, would open the YouTube to show some educative videos to his grandson in order to impart a basic idea of different subjects. In fact, our grandson learnt the preliminary lessons of his life from his grandfather only. After retirement as Joint Director in 2010, he performed the Umrah Haj with his family and relatives.
On 5th July, 2022 at about 12.05 midnight he breathed his last owing to a massive cardiac arrest leaving behind his wife, a son, a daughter, a son-in-law a daughter-in -law, a grandson and a host of relatives, friends and well-wishers. He was laid to rest on the same day at Satgaon Graveyard in the evening in presence of a huge gathering.
I offer my rich tributes to the hallowed memory of Late Arshad Hussain Saheb and pray to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul!
