AAU Former Vice Chancellor Should Put Behind The Bars: HYCPA

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: Alleging former vice-chancellor of Assam Agriculture University (AAU) Kamal Malla Bujarbaruah of creating a record of corruption in his 10 years of service, the Hindu Yuba Chattra Parishad, Asom (HYCPA) demands urgent action to put him behind bars.

Addressing a press meet at Guwahati Press club on Tuesday, HYCPA central president Balen Baishya said, “ KM Bujarbaruah is an expert in management. We have come to know that Bujarbaruah has already met some of the ministers, including the Finance and the Education ministers. So we want urgent action in cancelling the panel selected by the Selection Committee of Vice Chancellor. We have already sent a letter to the Governor requesting him to publish a new advertisement for the recruiting a new Vice Chancellor within the law of AAU. Now we will wait for government’s response to it. If no action is taken, we will take the matter to the President and the Prime Minister and inform them of the corruption and illegal acts that we have collected through RTI investigation.” Baishya further said, “The corruption done by Bujarbaruah is already proved, as the investigation committee comprising former vice chancellor of Gauhati University Dr. Nirmal Kumar Choudhury, former Director General of Police Mukesh Sahay and PWD (housing) chief engineer Mukesh Sahai confirmed Bujarbaruah as being directly involved in various financial, educational and administrative irregularities.” Baishya also claimed that to cover and hide all his wrongdoings the former vice chancellor is now trying to appoint a new vice chancellor of his choice, so that his corruptions don’t come into light and to fulfil his desire he is forming a screening committee by the registrar to evaluate the applicant that is purely unlawful. Alleging Bujarbaruah for some other illegal acts in the name of NGO and other organizations HYCPA appealed to the Chief Minister of Assam to take urgent action to punish the former vice chancellor and said that Bujarbaruah “must not live under the open sky and that he should behind the bars.”
