Airports Authority of India (AAI) Celebrates International Women's Day

GUWAHATI: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) celebrated and saluted the spirit of womanhood with a series functions on International Women's Day at Guwahati Airport on Friday when all women staff of the airport controlled the entire air traffic movement of the airport at Guwahati.

The day also commemorates the inspiring role of women around the world to secure women's rights and build more equitable societies. The entire operations of all Air Traffic movements were controlled by the women ATCOs (Air Traffic Control officers) of Guwahati Airport on the Day. The women ATC team of Guwahati Airport took over the full operations of aircrafts at the airport since the morning in different shifts.

A smart class was projected by the ATC in charge of the airport to cater to the mandatory sensitization and refresher classes for the future online exams for the ATCOs licenses. The specialty of the project is that the basic smart class was operationalized by a lady in charge, on the occasion of International Women's Day the entrepreneur or vendor was a women. The processing of the tender from start till completion was done by women. And since the project from the conceptual level to its execution was handled by women, operationalization of the smart classroom was by Shyamali Haldhar, in-charge Jt. GM- ATC along with J.T Radhakrishna, Regional Executive Director in-charge and Ramesh Kumar, Airport Director, Guwahati Airport.

On the occasion Air Traffic Controllers GUILD- North East Region felicitated the entire lady Air Traffic Controllers at LGBI Airport for their dedication and efforts to carry out the day to day operation with great efficiency and safety despite of tremendous growth rate in the aviation sector, particularly in North Eastern Region. International Women's day honours the women who have paved the path towards our progress and struggled to take 'womanhood' to a level where it is now. The objective of Women's day is to express love and gratitude towards women's contribution to our lives and society.
