Airports Authority of India celebrates 72nd Republic Day in North East

At Guwahati Airport, the National flag was hoisted by Shri M. Suresh, Regional Executive Director, Airports Authority of India, NE in presence of Shri Ramesh Kumar, Airport Director, LGBI Airport Guwahati.

Addressing the participants for the first time on this occasion, Shri Suresh extended his greetings on Republic Day and paid tribute to the great visionary who sacrificed for this nation. "The Airports Authority of India has taken massive steps to develop aviation infrastructure in the region and we are coming up with new terminal buildings, better passenger facilities and implementing latest technologies at our airports. This will boost passenger growth and help North East India in adding more connection to rest of the countries," he said.

Lauding the hard work of the frontline workers during this pandemic period, he said, "The corona warriors kept us safe and calm during the hard times."

A dog show, for the first time, was exhibited by the trained sniffer dogs of the CISF who are guarding most of the Airports in the region.

Certificates and mementos were awarded to the selected employees for their outstanding work by the Airport Director, General Managers and Head of the Departments. Patriotic songs were also sung by the AAI employees.

Similar activities were also observed at Dibrugarh, Agartala, Imphal, Silchar, Dimapur, Tezpur, Jorhat, Shillong, Lilabari, Tezu and Rupsi Airports.

Extending his sincere thanks to all the stakeholders, Guwahati Airport Director Ramesh Kumar said, "I am very much thankful to the employees for their efforts in successfully operating this airport during this pandemic.

The house-keeping staffs, the terminal management people, airside professionals, Air traffic Control officials, IT, Communication and many more unseen heroes who have contributed a lot during this tough time.

"We have worked hand are we must be united in all conditions is the mantra."

The General Managers, the CISF chief, airline staffs, city police and AAI employees with their family members were also present on the occasion. The ceremony concluded with vote of thanks by Airport Director, stated a release.
