Bongaigaon: Bongaigaon district administration celebrated the 72nd Republic Day in a befitting manner with a series of programmes. The Deputy Commissioner of Bongaigaon hoisted the national flag at Gandhi Maidan, Bongaigaon and took the guard of honour. Speaking on the event, the DC paid rich tribute to the martyrs of the Indian freedom movement and gave a call of encouragement to all to work collaboratively with the same spirit of devotion and sacrifice like the freedom fighters for the all-round development of the society.

Further, the DC praised the good work of the various departments during the pandemic crisis and flood situation and especially mentioned the works undertaken through Project Milijuli and such other special initiatives by various departments. A special initiative for welfare of the underprivileged children of the society through empowerment of their mental and physical health by various activities -Project Pratyarpan by the district administration, in association with District Sports and Child Protection department, was launched on the occasion. At the very first phase of the project, 30 days residential programme has been organized for the children, where yoga, music, art, dance, kabaddi and football coaching will be provided. A friendly cricket match was also played as a part of the celebration between DC XI and Bongaigaon Sports Association where DC XI won.

TINSUKIA: Sanjay Kishan, Minister of State for Tea Tribe Welfare and Labour Department, hoisted the tricolour on the occasion of the 72nd Republic Day at ITI Playground Tinsukia with Deputy Commissioner Diganta Saikia and Superintendent of Police Shiladitya Chetia on the podium.

In his Republic Day address, Kishan, while recalling the contribution of Ambedkar in framing the Constitution, highlighted various schemes that were implemented in the district. The event witnessed parade by different professional and non-professional contingents, including NCC and NSS besides presentation of tableau by TMB, agricultural department, district transport office and sericulture department.

Shiladitya Chetia, Superintendent of Police of Tinsukia, was among the 15 police officers who have been conferred with the Chief Minister's Outstanding Service Medal A number of individuals and organizations were felicitated, which included freedom fighter Satyabala Gogoi of Philobari, Lily Borah of old-age home –Amar Ghar, Romendra Duarah and Chandan Pan Tanti, the progressive farmers, Firuj Baruah, entrepreneur, Amrit Sharma, sports journalist, Pranati Bhattacharjee of Tinsukia Post Office, besides cultural teams of Srimanta Sankardev Sangeet Vidyalaya, Bengali Girls' HS School Tinsukia, Buds Girls' High School, Tinsukia English Academy, Saumrjyoti Vidyalaya Tinsukia, A New High School and Sarbojonin Valika Vidyalaya.

Dibrugarh: Oil India Limited (OIL) celebrated the 72nd Republic Day of the country with patriotic fervour at its Field Head Quarter at Nehru Maidan Duliajan. Dilip Kumar Das, Resident Chief Executive, Oil India Limited, unfurled the national flag amidst the singing of the national anthem by OIL employees, their families and public in the presence of senior officials of OIL.

Das, in his address, highlighted the importance of the day and enumerated on how energy soldiers of Oil India Limited, despite COVID-19, low crude oil prices and other difficulties, ensured uninterrupted supplies of crude oil. In addition, the exploration and development activities at various OIL blocks bagged under OALP started before schedule. He also mentioned about the recent CSR Awards that the company had bagged which reflected OIL's unflinching commitment to community development.

A total of five contingents - CISF (Ceremonial), CISF (Commando), AISF, OIL Security and OIL Fire Service - took part in the march past parade at Nehru Maidan. Das inspected the march past contingents and later handed over token of appreciation to the commander of each contingent.
