GUWAHATI: The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) today reiterated their demand for Constitutional safeguards for the indigenous people of Assam as per Clause 6 of the Assam Accord.

The AASU also demanded implementation of each of the suggestions contained in the report submitted by the high-powered committee constituted by the Central Government. They said that AASU will not rest till Constitutional safeguards are provided to the indigenous people of Assam.

In a joint statement, AASU President Dipanka Kumar Nath and General Secretary Sankor Jyoti Baruah asked the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister and the State Government to fulfil their assurance of implementing the recommendations of the high-powered committee.
