GUWAHATI: The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has opposed the State Government's decision to henceforth stop provincialization of educational institutions and has demanded that if necessary the laws pertaining to provincialization be amended with a view to improving the educational sector of Assam.

Addressing the media here on Sunday, MLA and AIUDF general secretary Aminul Islam said that more than 400 teachers of venture schools committed suicide in the last decade, while thousands of other teachers retired without getting their salaries. More than 23,000 teaching and non-teaching staff is currently working in 2,659 venture schools which are yet to be provincialized, he said.

He added that the AIUDF will support the fight of the venture school teachers and will raise the issue both within and outside the Assam Legislative Assembly.
