Annual general election of AIPROA concludes in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The election for the five posts of Assam Information and Public Relations Officers' Association (AIPROA) was successfully conducted at the Directorate of Information and Public Relations Headquarters in Guwahati on Tuesday.

The entire process for the posts of President, Vice President, General Secretary, Joint Secretary and Treasurer was done by casting of vote through ballot paper. The voting percentage was recorded at 95.7 per cent as declared by the Returning Officer, Hemanta Pegu, Joint Director, Welfare of Schedule Caste, Government of Assam.

Dina Nath Loying, Joint Director, HQ, Guwahati, was elected President uncontested. Ansuma Mahilary, Regional Officer, Kokrajhar was elected vice-president; Iftikhar Zaman, Liaison Officer, HQ, Guwahati, as general secretary; Jayanta Maut, District Information and Public Relations Officer, Sivasagar, as joint secretary; and Mridupawan Bora, Subdivisional Information and Public Relations Officer, Abhayapuri, as treasurer.

Additionally, the general body meeting was also held wherein various matters related to service rules, issues faced by the field officers etc. among others were discussed. During the meeting, an executive committee comprising of all the elected members and six nominated members was formed. The nominated members are Bankim Bhagawati, Manju Rani Deka, Sikha Saikia, Chumpi Chutia, Swakkhyar Deka and Dibyajyoti Sarmah, stated a press release.
