GUWAHATI: Another worker from the Cachar Paper Mill passed away on Friday after failing to afford desired timely treatment due to nonpayment of salary and dues for the last 52 months.

This was stated by Manobendra Chakraborty, president of Joint Action Committee of Recognised Unions (JACRU) of Nagaon and Cachar paper mills in Assam.

Chakraborty stated that the deceased, Amrit Lal Deb retired on 31-12-2018 without receiving a single penny as retirement dues from Cachar Paper Mill, Assam.

He was suffering from liver disease.

"Total deaths due to the non-payment of salaries have been raised to 85 lives. The government has the desire to kill every worker of HPC mills by starving them with inhumane torture. The HPC mills have turned into a valley of death under the active leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal," Chakraborty added.
