GUWAHATI: Xatrakantha – students’ voice – was heard louder from Gauhati University against the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) on Wednesday when students from Dibrugarh University, Tezpur Central University, North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), besides GU congregated and took the decision to go to each and every village of the State to make people aware of the dark side of the controversial Act. Besides the universities, students from 25 colleges of the State also took part in the agitation.

Speaking at the congregation, Prof. Hiren Gohain said that Assam does not need the CAA that has violated the Assam Accord. “The agitation doesn’t end here,” he said. Rahul Bordoloi, a student said, “We’re going to form a unit without any leaders. All of the unit will be members.”

Moon Talukdar, another student, said, “Our goal is opposing the CAA. Right now, we need to go to each and every village of the State to make people aware of the Act that is set to spell disaster for Assam and its people.” A drama was also staged against the CAA at the protest programme.
