GUWAHATI: Based on the interrogation of drug traffickers arrested during the last two days, a series of raids were conducted by the personnel of Latasil PS (Police Station) and SOG (Special Operations Group) of the Central Guwahati Police District, and arrested the four drug traffickers from different areas of the city.

The arrested drug traffickers are Mizanur Rahman (son of late Momarej Khan of Sijubari); Adbul Faruk, (son of Debraj Ali of Sijubari Mazar); Amit Das (son of Pankaj Das of Kharghuli); and Sarfaraz Ahmed (son of late Mohmad Ali of Gandhibasti in the Chandmari area of the city.

The following contraband items have been recovered and seized from their possession: Four vials filled with suspected heroin along with 55 empty containers; five soap boxes containing suspected heroin of approximately 70 gram; cash of Rs 42,200; a scooty (AS 01DK 8914); and five mobile phones.

Mentionably, 13 drug traffickers have been arrested so far in the ongoing investigation of the Latasil PS Case No. 272/21.

Further investigation is on in the case to unearth further linkages, stated a source in the APHQ (Assam Police Headquarters).

MACHKHOWA SEIZURE: In the continuing drive against drugs, the SOG (Special Operation Group) of West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) and Staff from Bharalumukh Police Station picked up drug trafficker — Kurban Ali at about 10 am at Machkhowa. Some vials containing suspected heroin were also seized from his possession.

Further leads from Kurban Ali led to a raid was at Kotabari area of Gorchuk, by the WGPD.

The operation led to the following recoveries: 4+6=10 vials: 2.16 gms and one soap case: 12.72 gms of suspected heroin. The total weight of the seized heroin is 14.88 gram. The other seizures include seven syringes, three empty soap cases and 260 empty vials.

The Police also recovered cash amounting to Rs 1,74,000; one R1 motor cycle (AS01 EE 8436); gold jewellery weighing 87.72 gram; and silver coins weighing 210.38 gram.

The Police also recovered an SBI passbook in the name of Chaleha Khatoon wife of Kurban Ali; and three mobile handsets.

The following persons have been arrested: Kurban Ali — son of late Khalil Rajman of No 3 Dholpur under Siphajhar Police Station in Darrang; Chaleha Khatoon – wife of Kurban Ali; Asra Praveen – daughter of Samsul Haque, a resident of Chenga Police Station in Barpeta, stated a press release.
