Assam Labour Department to Organize Registration Mela in Seven Districts

GUWAHATI: With a view to remove the complications in the registration and renewal process under various labour laws enforced and monitored by the Assam Labour Welfare Department, the Commissionerate of Labour under the aegis of the Assam Labour Department Welfare Society proposes to organize a registration mela in seven districts of the State, namely Kamrup (M), Nagaon, Sonitpur, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia and Cachar on August 27, 2019 from 10 am onwards to raise awareness and conduct spot registration and renewal for employers and employees under the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Act, 1997, the Contract Labour (R&A) Act, 1970, the Motor Transport Workers Act, 1961, and the Unorganized Workers Social Security Act, 2008.

According to a press release, all concerned employers, contractors and workers are requested to be present at the venues, as specified, on the scheduled date for hassle-free spot registration and renewal at following venues, namely, Kamrup (M)- office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner, Guwahati, Nagaon- office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner, Sonitpur- office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner, Jorhat- Bisturam Hall, AT Road, Dibrugarh- Garden Treat, near Thana Chariali, Tinsukia- Manab Kalyan Prarthana Bhawan, Makum Road, Cachar- DRDA Conference Hall, Silchar. For any further queries, the Labour Welfare Department asked that the Assistant Labour Commissioner of the concerned district may be contacted.
