GUWAHATI: The Assam State Primary Teachers' Association (ASPTA) has called for fulfillment within three months of its demand for creation of, appointment to, headmasters' posts in all primary schools of the State along with repayment of deducted Grade Pay from graduate teachers working in primary schools.

The new office-bearers and executive committee of the ASPTA took oath and their respective charges at the Sikshak Bhawan at Chandmari here on Wednesday, with Akhil Chandra Nath taking over as the president and Ratul Chandra Goswami as the general secretary.

Talking to the media, Goswami said that the system of appointing contractual teachers should be scrapped and those working as contractual teachers should be appointed as regular teachers. He also called for release of arrear Daily Allowance (DA) dues of the contractual primary school teachers of the State.
